Austin is a Louisiana native but grew up spending every summer in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, where he first fell in love with the outdoors. His two great loves are mountains and rivers, so most of his time outdoors has been spent either backpacking or whitewater canoeing and kayaking. He extensive paddling experience on many rivers throughout the Southeast and has backpacked all over North American and Europe. He is currently finishing up his Master’s Degree in Theological Studies in New Orleans, where he has lived for the past 8 years. In the summers, he works as the Program Director at Camp Chosatonga, a high adventure wilderness camp for boys in Brevard, NC, that he grew up attending since the age of 6. He has been leading mission trips and outdoor adventure trips for almost a decade and these trips continue to be a favorite hobby of his. One of his single greatest joys in life is sharing his love for the outdoors with anyone and everyone and watching as others fall in love with nature in their own unique way.
