Pilgrimage

“Only those who risk going too far can possibly
find out how far they can go.”
- T.S. Eliot

We lead pilgrimages

Uniting the physical with the spiritual and offering a mindful escape from the frenetic pace of modern life. On pilgrimage, we see how our lives are a voyage filled with joy, effort, beauty, suffering, surprises, goals, adventure, expectation and love. Creatio walks three specific pilgrimages because we have years of expertise and relationships with the locals; whether that be friendship with Pier Giorgio’s niece, the keys to the various churches in New Mexico, or knowledge of the very best albergues in Spain, Creatio adds an invaluable resource to your journey. Without us you will not have the same connections to enhance the experience. Let us do all the planning so you can focus on the journey! (You’ll be too tired to find a good dinner anyway.)

El Camino de Chimayó

For over two hundred years, El Santuario de Chimayó has been a powerful historical landmark, a place of miracles, and a popular pilgrimage destination for many. In 1810, Bernardo Abeyeta, a local resident, miraculously discovered an extraordinary crucifix buried in the Chimayó soil. Eventually, a chapel was built atop the site and the miraculous crucifix was placed inside. The Camino de Chimayó engages the spiritual and physical, as pilgrims are changed and challenged by the striking landscape of New Mexico, the generous hospitality of their hosts along the way, and ample times for prayer, silence, and community.

El Camino de Santiago

Each year, the Camino de Santiago attracts thousands of pilgrims who traverse the ancient network of pilgrim trails that make up the Camino de Santiago seeking an experience of healing, transformation, and self-discovery. The rhythm of this pilgrimage fuses adventure with mystery, as each day is filled with historic churches, beautiful scenery, good food, and of course, a very long walk. On the Camino, strangers become friends, life becomes simple, and hearts become open.

In the Footsteps of Frassati

Verso l’alto, to the heights! Journey to the heights that inspired Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, widely known and loved for his magnanimity of spirit, passion for outdoor pursuits, and love for the poor. This pilgrimage across Northern Italy follows (literally) in Pier Giorgio’s footsteps, visiting the places he prayed, the houses he lived in, and the mountains he loved so dearly, and his tomb in Turin. The highlight of this pilgrimage is a stay at the Rifugio Frassati, an alpine hut located in the magnificent alps on the Swiss-Italian border.
