About This Trip
Created specifically for readers of The Young Catholic Woman, this 75 mile pilgrimage goes through some of Northern New Mexico’s most beautiful landscapes en route to El Santuario de Chimayó.
Daily distances range from nine to 18 miles. Over six days of walking this averages out to 12.5 miles per day.
You’ll spend most of your time walking in the Carson National Forest. Wheeler Peak, New Mexico’s highest point, is located in the forest, as well as a number of ski resorts and trails taking advantage of the forest’s beautiful setting.
After Chimayó, nearby Santa Fe is a popular stop for lunch and a tour of the Loretto Chapel and St. Joseph’s Staircase.
As a pilgrim with Creatio, all meals, lodgings, and visits to points of interest are prearranged and included in the cost of the trip starting from your arrival at Santa Fe Airport to your departure. We want you to be free to experience God in Nature. As experienced pilgrims ourselves, we find this easiest when day-to-day cares are minimal and we are freely allowed to “Adventure in nature. Journey in spirit.”
